Kostecki Brothers to Partner Up for Bathurst 1000

With just 3 weeks until Australia’s biggest race of the year, Matt Stone Racing can confirm that Jake Kostecki will partner with brother Kurt in UNIT Racing’s car #34 for the Repco Bathurst 1000 event.

When Jake entered the 2021 season as a full-time driver with the team, it was clear that Kurt was no doubt the best co-driver pick to pair up with him come time for the 1000km endurance race.

As brothers, the trust between Jake and Kurt is unbreakable, which the Matt Stone Racing team witnessed first-hand at a test day in mid-September. They both know each other’s racing behaviours, driving style, and set up likes and dislikes, making them the perfect driver combination.

When asked about partnering up with Jake for the season finale race, Kurt said, “I’m really looking forward to driving alongside Jake this year at the Bathurst 1000 and joining MSR for the great race.”

MSR had always hoped to sign Kurt alongside Jake, especially knowing that he had multiple wildcard outings locked in for this year and would be getting plenty of seat time in a Supercar. This guaranteed he would be more than ready, and capable of executing an outstanding job as Jake’s co-driver.

Kurt has proven himself worthy of this role after delivering a P6 race result in Darwin earlier this year, right behind Jake who finished in P5. His experience both in the car and behind the scenes, and the knowledge that Kurt brings with him from both an engineering and mechanical point of view, will benefit he and Jake when Bathurst rolls around.

“Jake has had a relatively strong year in the UNIT Racing car and I’m looking forward to playing my part in finishing the year on a high with him.” Kurt continued, “As everyone knows anything can happen at Bathurst so I’m really looking forward to putting the work in and seeing how we go.”

We feel that this pairing is a force to be reckoned with and that Jake will be more competitive alongside Kurt and vice versa.
