2020 will see the biggest commitment to both Supercars and youth development yet by Matt Stone and his team, with the launch of SuperLite.
A meeting with then new Supercars CEO Sean Seamer early in 2019 to discuss the challenges faced by Supercars in a tight, very competitive commercial market provided the opportunity for Stone to pitch his idea; two talented Super2 drivers sharing sprint rounds under a single Racing Entitlements Contract (REC) then pairing up for the Enduro Series. SuperLite was born.
SuperLite will allow talented Super2 drivers to take the big step up to main game without the need to radically increase budgets, plus provide the much needed experience that a rookie year brings, without the pressure placed on the driver or the team willing to take them on.
The first two drivers to step up for the inaugural season, under the REC recently purchased from GRM, will be 20 year old Zane Goddard and 19 year old Jake Kostecki. Both drivers come with strong Super 2 experience, with Jake also recently competing with cousin Brodie in a Wildcard entry in the 2019 Pirtek Enduro Series.
