In his home-town of Adelaide, Todd Hazelwood made his full-time Virgin Australia Supercars Championship debut at the Adelaide 500.
The Bigmate Racing driver finished a credible 22nd in Race 1 and 21st in Race 2, in what was the rookie team and driver’s first event for this year’s championship.
Hazelwood was overall pleased with the weekend and is looking forward to Round 2 of the championship in Melbourne.
“The event was quite surreal, it was unbelievable to make my full-time Supercars debut at a circuit in my home state in front of all my family, friends and local sponsors and supporters,” Hazelwood said.
“We had a challenging weekend with the new car, but it’s now eyes forward to the next round at the Australian Grand Prix.
“The Bigmate Racing team and Matt Stone Racing crew did an incredible job and I cannot wait to hit the Albert Park circuit for the first time in a fortnight’s time.”
The 22-year-old now sits 23rd in the Supercars Championship with 15 rounds remaining.
The Bigmate Racing team will be back on track for the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix on 22-25 March.
