WEEKEND RECAP
We’re back and racing in Round 5 of the Supercars Championship – following a long break after the New Zealand double-header in April!
Jack Le Brocq’s No.4 Sherrin Rentals Camaro battled with technical issues from the first practice session on Friday afternoon, and sadly these issues persisted over the course of the weekend despite the teams best efforts to manage the problem. Still, Jack got amongst it out on track and managed to fight his way back up the field to bring home a P17 and a P11 in Race 14 & 15.
On the other side of the garage, Zach Bates and the No.10 Bendix Racing Camaro struggled slightly to find pace in Qualifying. However, Zach was able to improve on his Qualifying position significantly in the first two races of the weekend, missing out on the Top 10 by only a few positions – finishing P11 in Race 14, and P13 in Race 15. Zach continues to hone his racecraft as he gains experience racing in the main game, and is steadily improving round-by-round.
Going forward the team at Matt Stone Racing remains focused on bringing the fight to the front of the grid as we look towards Round 6 in Darwin, another favoured track of ours – particularly with the return of JLB to the MSR ranks, as he claimed the teams first Gen3 win in Darwin in 2023.
QUOTES
Matt Stone
Team Owner, Matt Stone Racing
“A bit of a challenging weekend for the team at what’s normally one of our stronger tracks. Many of the issues we had were out of our control, but nonetheless we have a good idea of what went wrong and the team is thoroughly reviewing everything to make sure we come back stronger in Darwin. We’re confident that we can bring the fight back to the very front of the grid – we had our first Gen3 win with JLB in Darwin in 2023, and that’s a result that we’re working hard to try and replicate”

Driver, No.4 Sherrin Rentals Camaro
“Overall, we didn’t have the weekend we were after here in Tassie. We were coming off a strong start to the season and the expectations were high with the previous form of MSR and how much I enjoy the circuit here. Unfortunately from the outset it seemed ladyluck was against us for the weekend with a technical issue during practice on Friday which in turn returned again during Sundays race taking away a chance at a decent result. But nonetheless the team at MSR continued to push hard and make improvements as the weekend went on. We’re confident we can bounce back for the next round in Darwin as it’s been a happy hunting ground for us in the past!”
Zach Bates
Driver, No.10 Bendix Racing Camaro
“Everyone worked hard as always, however we struggled to find pace particularly in Qualifying which put us slightly on the backfoot. We did our best to make up positions during the races, but the field was very tight and it didn’t always go our way. Still I’m happy with the P11 and P13 finishes from the first two races, it’s great to be getting close to regular top-ten finishes. Thanks so much to the team and the fans for coming out to support us as always, we’ll review everything from this weekend and come back stronger in Darwin.”
