A podium for Nick Percat highlighted Matt Stone Racing’s Tasmania weekend while Cameron Hill claimed a top 10 result on Sunday.
The Bendix Racing Chevrolet Camaro pulled off a stellar over-cut thanks to a smart strategy and perfect pit stop by the crew to emerge in the lead of Race 12 on Sunday.
Percat defended well against Broc Feeney, ultimately taking the chequered flag in second-place with a well-earned podium, having earlier finished 22nd in Race 11.
That followed on Sunday with another top 10 result of ninth in the longer refuelling race.
The Supaglass Racing Chevrolet Camaro of Hill was running strong in Saturday’s Race 12 but got turned around late in the piece, with a 14th place finish in Race 11.
A better day on Sunday saw the Canberran net a top 10 result and a healthy haul of points, recovering from 17th in qualifying.

“It was a solid weekend. Friday took a bit to get going and then we found out feet on Saturday. Race 1 could have been a lot better if we didn’t qualify poorly and then Race 2 was awesome to get on the podium. Sunday’s race we were really quick, probably didn’t qualify quite where we wanted — we were probably good enough to be eighth, which would have changed our day a fair bit. The cars were really fast so we could have taken the risk to do the double fuelling like the Grove guys but just couldn’t get it done. So to come home with two straight cars in the 10 from 13th and 17th was really good. We needed a little bit of lady lucky today and didn’t quite have it.”

“It was a tough weekend for me in the Supaglass car — it was good that Nick got a podium and kept the team’s run of podiums this year going. But yeah… it was me really, I just didn’t nail the qualifying sessions unfortunately. It’s so tight with the times here, if you don’t get your lap perfect you can be buried in the field and that’s what happened to me a few times. Thankfully in that last race we were able to avoid the carnage and had a good race to finish in the top 10 to end the weekend. Happy with that, Tassie was cruel to me this year but I’ll always look forward to this one and it’s eyes forward to Perth now.”
