Nick Percat claimed another podium finish for Matt Stone Racing on Saturday at the Australian Grand Prix in unbelievable circumstances.
The Bendix Racing driver was looking good in second place when the power steering began to fail, slipping to third.
On the last lap, the power steering really gave up, but in an incredible display of driving prowess, Percat held off the charging pack as he muscled his #10 Chevrolet Camaro through the final few corners.
That incredible effort was rewarded with a third-place finish, MSR’s third consecutive day with a podium result.
Cameron Hill claimed a solid haul of points in the Dabble Racing entry with a top 10 finish, after qualifying on Row 4.
The Canberran will start from the front row of the grid for Sunday’s finale race of the weekend.

“I wasn’t giving up, I thought we were going to win it. I had a lot of pace over both the Red Bulls before the restart. We had to go so slow under the safety car, everything got real hot, and you can probably see me on TV hanging wide. Took the restart, power steering was shot so I just had to let Broc [Feeney] go and get clear air on the front of the car. But then with a lap to go it fully exploded and we did the last lap with no power steering. I over-and-undered Brodie with nothing, with my knees. I was not giving up, this far was 100 percent on the podium. Because we should have been in contention to win it. Credit to Brodie, he saw what was happening, he could have turfed me out of the way but we raced hard. i had to use him as a guard rail through the last corner. My knees got a workout. Lucky I’m tall.”

“It sure was a lot busier for us than the other races so far this weekend. There was just a couple of times that I zagged when I should have zigged and I got hung out to dry and lost a few places. All-in-all it’s a decent result in P10 because that race was another crazy one and there were some people that weren’t so lucky. I’m glad that we got another good points day for the team and we’ve got a straight car to start on the front row tomorrow.”
