Matt Stone Racing heads to The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia this weekend for Round 8 of the Repco Supercars Championship.
Jack Le Brocq sits a strong eighth in the Drivers’ Championship, with the Truck Assist Racing squad in the top 10 of the Teams’ Championship.
Cameron Hill, who continues to prove he is a top 10 contender in his rookie season, will get back behind the wheel of Car #35 after a recent test day at The Bend.
The team came away confident after a full day of testing at Tailem Bend earlier this month, with the benefit of bonus mileage at the circuit.
A compact two-day schedule features two practice sessions, qualifying, and a race on Saturday.
The cars will return to the track for a further two qualifying sessions and two more races on Sunday to round out the weekend.
“Looking forward to getting back to Tailem Bend this weekend. We’re feeling good after testing there a few weeks ago, which was definitely a bonus to get some mileage in. We’ve been focussed on really maximising what we learnt from that day. It’s a track I’ve run well at in the past with a podium back in 2020, so hopefully we can target some strong results with the MSR crew. We feel like we’ve got a pretty good direction going in – it’s a two-day event so will be a busy one, but hopefully we roll out the truck fairly competitive.”
“We didn’t get the race results in Sydney that we were after, but the qualifying speed was really strong. To make the top 10 in Saturday’s knock out format was really cool and to be right up there under lights with the drivers at the very top was awesome. We just need to keep making sure we have the car in the window and if I extract everything out of it there’s no reason we can’t continue those performances in qualifying. I don’t think we’ll see the tyre degradation as powerful at The Bend, but that’s not to say it won’t be there as you can still hurt the tyres, I think the pace will be very high there you won’t be able to keep as much up your sleeve. I swept the weekend there in 2021. It’s a great track, I really like it. The Bend is fast and flowing, so it’ll be interesting to see how Gen3 goes there as there’s not as much reliance on aero leading to some good battles. I think Gen3 has shown to put on good racing and that’s the main thing.”
