Fullwood focused on strengthening Super2 campaign

Northern Territory’s only Supercars driver Bryce Fullwood has his sights set on gunning for the 2018 Dunlop Super2 Series, despite a frustrating start to the season.

The 19-year-old originally from Darwin finished the Tasmanian round of the series sitting within the top 10, despite the last two rounds presenting bad luck.

Fullwood finished the highest of 8th in combined practice, while coming home 14th for the round at the Symmons Plains circuit.

“It was a tough weekend for us, however the positives for us were that we did have some feedback from the car in the last race … we have been struggling to get any feedback from the car when we were making big changes and in the last race we did get some direction,” Fullwood said.

“Leading into Perth we have some idea of what parts of the car have been holding us back, so we can start working hard between events to get it sorted.

“Despite the circumstances I’m stoked that we are 10th in the championship, I don’t feel like we have earned that spot but when other people make mistakes you have to be there to capitalise on them.

“Hopefully at the next round we can move forward and start to climb the championship leaderboard like where I believe we belong.”

The teenager will now prepare for the third round of the series at Barbagallo Raceway, in what Fullwood added has been a tough year of great competition.

“The competition in the championship is always tough and this year is no different, it seems like every year it gets harder, but that’s why the championship has the pedigree that it does,” Fullwood added.

Fullwood enters his fourth year of the series this season and thanked his supporters for their continued support.

“I’d like to thank each and everyone of my sponsors for sticking with us through these testing times, Middy’s especially as its our fourth year running with them, as well as Accident Repair Management, Scouts NT, Clipsal, RACE NT and all of my other proud sponsors.”

The Middy’s Data & Electrical driver will race at Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway on 4-6 May, as part of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championships’ Perth SuperSprint event.
