Bigmate Racing has completed their first official run against the other Virgin Australia Supercars Championship teams, with Todd Hazelwood testing the car at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The rookie team and driver had a solid day, ending the day in 13th position after climbing the time sheets to as high as second place.
Hazelwood was happy with today’s testing program and has confidence heading to his home event in Adelaide.
“Very pleased with our second test day for 2018,” Hazelwood said.
“We had a huge program set out for the day and managed to get through every aspect, which is just awesome.
“I feel we showed some really good signs of speed and I’m feeling really comfortable heading into the Adelaide 500.”
Hazelwood’s Engineer Wes McDougall embarked on his return to the ‘main-game’ today and was encouraged by how today’s testing went for the team.
“I’m really happy with how the day panned out. I am also proud of the team at MSR and Todd — we had a large program of changes to evaluate and we managed to get through most of the items on the list,” McDougall said.
“We learnt a lot about this new car, the 2018 tyres and this high speed circuit. Now our focus turns to Adelaide, which we are all really excited for.”
Team owner Matt Stone added that today was a proud moment for the team.
“Today’s test was a really special moment for the entire Bigmate Racing and Matt Stone Racing team and we’re all ready to make our full-tome racing debut at Adelaide in less than two weeks time,” Stone said.
The Bigmate Racing team will now prepare for the first round of the 2018 Supercars Championship, which will run on the streets of Adelaide on 1-4 March.
